Professional Window Treatment Installation in Kansas City

Installing window coverings is not always as simple as a couple of screws and a bracket. Some go up in minutes. Others, like shutters, take real precision to hang right. At One Stop Decorating, our trained installers put up your blinds, shades, and shutters so they sit level, work smoothly, and last for years. Here is what professional window treatment installation actually involves, and why it is worth it.

How Hard Is It to Install? It Depends on the Product

Difficulty ranges a lot depending on the coverage and the options you choose. Here is how the three main types compare.

Window Blinds Installation

Standard blinds are the easiest. They have been around a long time and usually go up with a metal bracket and a few screws to set the headrail. Even so, the headrail has to be level and the brackets placed right, or the blind will not raise, lower, and tilt the way it should.

Shades Installation

Standard shades install much like blinds, but fabric shades demand more care. Many rely on a perfectly level headrail because if the fabric travels up even slightly off, it can drift to one side and rip. That damage is not covered by any manufacturer’s warranty, so getting the headrail dead level is what protects your investment.

Shutters Installation

Shutters are the hardest by far. Hanging one is like hanging a door in a frame: it has to be squared perfectly so it does not swing open or closed on its own, and so the panels do not rub the trim and wear the paint in the corners. This takes the most skill of any covering we install, which is why we never recommend a DIY shutter install.

What Goes Wrong Without a Pro

A box-store blind is simple enough to put up yourself. The trouble usually starts with the leveling and the adjustment, because setting the brackets is only half the job. You also have to know how to adjust the covering so it hangs and operates correctly. The DIY problems we get called to fix most often:

  • Fabric shades that tilt and rip because the headrail was not level
  • Shutters that rub the trim or swing on their own because they were not squared
  • Blinds and shades that sit crooked or will not raise evenly

Many of these issues fall outside the warranty, so a small saving up front can cost a lot more later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer professional installation?

Yes. We provide professional installation on all of our blinds, shades, and shutters across the Kansas City area. Our own trained installers handle the entire job.

You can install standard blinds and shades with basic tools, but the headrail has to be level and properly adjusted to work right. Fabric shades are riskier, since an unlevel install can cause the fabric to rip, which manufacturer warranties do not cover.

Shutters hang like a door in a frame, so they must be squared perfectly, or they swing on their own and rub the trim. That level of precision is hard to match with a DIY install. It is the main reason we recommend professional installation for shutters.

It depends on how many windows and which coverings, but most installs are finished in a single appointment. Blinds and shades go quickly, while shutters take more time and care.

We use our own professional, employed installers and never subcontract. That keeps the quality and the accountability in our hands from start to finish.

We adjust everything on site and register your Hunter Douglas warranty before we leave. If an issue comes up later, we can take care of you right away.
